The Ontario government announced that all schools, camps, daycares are closed in Ontario until April 5 due to coronavirus. Not only are all publicly funded schools closed for three weeks in Ontario due to the coronavirus outbreak, the City of Toronto and Toronto’s public and Catholic school boards have said that closures include all child-care operations. Toronto District School Board director of education John Malloy has issued a statement that outlines with more clarity how the provincially mandated closure affects local school operations. From March 14 to April 5, the following closures/cancellations are in place at schools. The Toronto Catholic District School Board states its “child-care centres, Early ON Centres and before and after programs will be closed from March 15-April 5.” The City of Toronto, which normally operates day camps and recreation programming over March Break, has stated that all licensed daycares, libraries, and community and recreation centres in Toronto will be closed as of Saturday. The closures will be in place until April 5, the city’s medical officer of health announced Friday. All March Break camps run by the city are also cancelled.
